Pitter Patter Rescue Society came about in September 2014 after my introduction to rats as pets. I learned quite quickly how intelligent, loving, and comical these balls of energy were, but I also learned the dark side of what rats faced from horrible living conditions, birthing multiple litters in under age female rats to the point they are so ragged and tired they succumb to a untimely early death. Lets also not forget to mention their use as live food for certain reptile owners.

 

Domestic pet rats are so much more than being used to breed multiple litters, becoming live food,  OR thought of as dirty rodents living in the sewer or scavenging through your garbage. Pet rats are intelligent, loving, fun, and can even be taught tricks if given the time!

 
Our rescue believes that these amazing animals all deserve a chance at living a life full of love, snuggles, free roam play, and the best diet and treats any rat would enthusiastically gobble up. Pitter Patter Rescue Society is a safe place for, unwanted, abandoned, neglected, OR abused domestic pet rats. It is also a safe place for rat owners to bring their pet they can no longer care for due to unforeseen circumstances.

 

We understand that your choice to surrender your rat to a rescue was a very hard and difficult decision, and we will provide the best loving care to your pet for as long as they they are in our care. We will also find the very best home for them and follow a very strict adoption process to ensure they are the best fit for their new forever family. 

 

*PLEASE NOTE* We will try our very best to welcome any rat that needs our care and help, provided there is available volunteers, and foster homes at the time of your pet enters our care.

Our mission is to re-home, and rehabilitate all domesticated pet rats needing help that come into care at Pitter Patter Rescue Society, in the event of certain circumstances when a rat is unable to be adopted our rescue will provide care and comfort for as long as needed. We provide help to rats, but also rat owners in Kamloops, Kelowna, and surrounding areas.
